Thanks for the reply. Sounds as if I should have placed a bit more info in
my posts. I know it's the pistons/pads causing drag as I'm trying to
complete a complete front-end rebuild and have replaced and set the bearing
in the front hubs, they spin rather nice with no pressure from the brakes.
Due to the rebuild and wanting to insure all is good with the brake. I've
not driven the car yet to use heat as an indication of problems. As the
caliper is not causing the wheel to bind to the point I can not turn it by
hand should I bleed the system and take it for a spin?

Frank, the pistons don't return. The brake pads only squeeze and release.
There will be no noticeable space between the pads and
the rotors. This is normal for all disc brake systems.
Dunno about the "drag". How do you know the piston/pads are causing the
drag, maybe the bearings are tight?
When you drive the car is one caliper hotter than the other?
