   I use the Olympus 500DL which is the older twin of the C-3040.
I picked it because it is an SLR with a classical viewfinder (like a
35mm).  The cameras with the LCD viewfinder <only> on the back
look cool until you have to use them outdoors in the sun.  Can't see
squat of the image.  I had a Minolta like that.  Sold it after 1 week.
   FWIW, Olympus will upgrade the 500DL to use the new high
capacity memory cards if you buy the card from them!  Max memory
supported by the 500DL software is 4 MBytes.  The new ones are
32MBytes or bigger.
   A few people have commented that they liked the images I posted
of my '70 B-GT engine.  They were taken with the 50DL so I just
thought I would toss in my 2 cents on the issue.
