Thanks to those who replied to my previous post.
The prospect with no LBC experience came to look at the car yesterday. He
seems very careful and the corvette he did was very nice, he just needs some
help on some particulars. As to investigating the sills, he suggested
drilling some holes on the inside sill to look inside, and then filling them
with rubber grommets if the repair was deemed unnecessary. Comments on
drilling holes here?
It seems to me that a better way to check would be to just go ahead and cut
out the rust bubbles and look inside from there. That way those areas would
get taken care of and we could see between the outer and middle sills. Is
this a better place to look? At this point I doubt that the car needs new
sills, but it seems irresponsible not to look and make sure.
The other main question is the method of paint removal. The "experienced"
guy told me that chemical stripper is the only way to go to prevent warping
of panels due to heat. The new to LBC guy said he would use a DA sander.
When asked about warpage he said it had never happened to him before. Does
sanding present a danger to the body?
Thanks again,
-Dan
