A missing engine number tag usually means that the engine has been
rebuilt (or at least machined) by a professional at some point because
they usually remove these tags, or they just dissolve in the hot tank. 
It could be anything, including a hybrid.  Only disassembly will tell
you what you need to order in the way of internal parts, and external
parts shouldn't be a problem to identify.
