Half of what new car? Half of a Porsche Boxster? British car restorations,
complete quality restorations, are in the $20-$25k range if you're paying
someone to do it for you and you can easily spend more. And by someone who
knows what they are doing, not after-hours Gus The Garage Mechanic.
