You have an alternator problem.  First thing to do is charger the battery.
Then test the electrical system.  The battery should read 12+V when fully
charged.  Do a load test on the battery, to make sure it is good.  Often a
battery can hold 12V for only a short time.

Then test the alternator.  You should get between 13.5 and 14V.

BTW, check to make sure the fan belt is still there and tight.

What happened is, the alternator stopped putting out juice and the car ran on
battery only.  As the battery wore down, there wasn't enough power to run the
ignition system or operate the gauges.
