Hi again,
Sorry to be a bother, but I was wondering if someone with access to mg
production numbers could help me with identification. I recently wrote the
list about a 1500 mga I was contemplating buying (and doing an engine swap in).
Today I purchased the car, but realized it is a 1600, not a 1500. The grille
is gone, and I couldn't tell from the rear plinths (vertical, but no lenses) -
I didn't know at my last viewing to check the front brakes (they are discs).
I'm waiting on my factory shop manual to arrive and am eager to know just what
I've purchased :)

The chassis number plate on the firewall is grimed over and not legible; I
didn't want to rip up the carpet and floorboards to check the center chassis
crossmember. I do have the body #: (B1 1462), and the engine #: (15F-N-H
3291). The only thing I have to go on at the moment is the Moss catalogue, and
these numbers don't appear to match up. I assumed the number 15 prefix on the
engine number referred to a 1500, but apparently I was wrong? Any help would
be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bill
