I passed the Aircare test (smog test?) with very good readings but the
car had started a series of hesitating, missing, almost backfiring which
I have managed to settle down by about 70%.
Co-incidentally, or it was going to happen anyway, suddenly,. my oil
pressure gauge no longer registers as quickly on startup but also does
not attain the levels I had just the day before.
On starting, it would shoot up to 75lbs nimbly & with the vigour of
youth. When warm it would idle at 55lbs.
Now it's very sluggish to register on starting, slowly climbs to 60lbs &
stays there, even at idle. I am aware of the reason for the timelag on
startup from cold due to the little gizmo that has to warm up a bit
before registering, that's not it.
Could someone please throw some light on it for me.
In an unrelated event I did a compression test the day before &
registered 149lbs across all 4.
