There are a couple of things I would recommend to you. First, use
white touch-up paint to highlight the notch in the harmonic balance
(crank pulley) and and the timing marks on the front cover. Set the
timing light to +34 and then time it at 3500 revs. It should read 0
on the marks and if it doesnt adjust it to where it does. Kent
Prather gave me this method and it has worked well for me. Hope you
have as much success with it.
OBTW, don't worry about the vacuum advance. the weights in the
distributor will give the necessary compensation for timing.
