Robert has requested the location of all the fasteners for the 79B dash, so
I thought I'd just give it to the list. If anyone wants to put this on their
websites, please feel free to do so.
The locations for the six dash bolts (7/16" nut) are:
one at each end of the dash, one behind the four warning indicator lights
(between the tach and speedo. I found it much easier to access this nut by
turning the speedo 30 degrees clockwise and removing it), one above the
clock, and one behind the face vents (remove the glove box and vent hoses to
access this one).
The locations for the three retaining straps on the bottom of the dash
(phillips screws) are:
one just to the left of the steering wheel, one under the temperature gauge
(difficult to get to because the console is in the way. Using a vise, I bent
a screwdriver about one inch from the business end and this allowed me to
loosen it), and one under the glovebox.
Remove the oil line from the oil gauge and the speedo cable. Pull the dash
out and roll it forward to access all wiring. Label all wires and remove
them one at a time. This being the first time, it took me almost 3 hours to
accomplish this task.
Everything under the dash looks factory new!
Good luck,
Monte
