Well, having never done it before, I suppose they would have to be drained
and refilled as you say.  As for the uprated shock valves, they are already
on the car, so the point is to take it up from that new baseline.  The idea
of merely swapping valves appeals to me (especially if any tinkering with
viscosity 'blows up' the unit!).  Are there uprated valves to different
specs?  I have a set of original shock valves that I would love to uprate
beyond the spec of the Moss supplied stiffening units now installed.  Anyone
know?

I'm curious how you would go about that. Meaning, draining the shocks to
refill them with a different oil, from time to time. I think it would be
actually easier to change the valve from time to time, if it came to that.
