The current generation Corvette is a world class sports car that can handle,
accelerate, and brake as well as Ferraris of not very long ago. The notion
that a Corvette is a lead sled slapped together from the GM parts bin no
longer applies (but boy it sure did at one point!). Go to an autocross and
see for yourself that the Corvette is a major contender - and not just in a
straight line. Still, I occasionally beat the 'vettes in my lowly B-GT,
which is all the more gratifying because they have 200-300 hp and 40 years
of suspension development over the B. When I got into autocross five or six
years ago I thought Corvettes were just "poser" cars. I can now say with
absolute certainty that they are extraordinary performance vehicles that
offer Ferrari-like performance at a fraction of the price. I still wouldn't
be caught dead in one, though. ;-)
