I'm still working on replacing my front suspension. I've got my jack
under the spring pan, but I can't budge the fulcrum pin (the bolt
holding the kingpin to the damper). I tried soaking the bolt with
Blaster and whacking at it with a hammer for about two weeks (not full
time, maybe once or twice a day), but the end of the bolt seems rusted
pretty solidly. Tonight I tried heating it with the propane torch, but
not only didn't it move, the rubber bushing started smoking and
smoldering enough to make me too nervous to continue. I was thinking
about using a hacksaw blade to cut away the bushing, or maybe a
reciprocating saw to cut through the pin. Any other suggestions before
I get more destructive? I have a replacement kingpin, but I want to
reuse the dampers.

The part that really bugs me is that the kingpin seems pretty solid, and
I might have passed inspection if I just remembered to add grease
periodically! Live and learn.

Thanks.
