I did a lot of messing about with sound/heatproofing and did do an article
in the British V8 Newsletter on it. But briefly what I found was this
  1) The DynaMat and similar, is nothing more than the stuff used on flat
roofs. It comes in various widths - A 6" width 27ft roll costs about $20
(compare that with Dynamat) Found at roofing contractor outlets.
2) Soundproofing foam can be found in most hardware stores - Used for
wrapping hot water tanks - Make sue it is closed cell
3) Best glue is obtained from auto trim shops who install vinyl
roofs. There are many specialist glue makers - 3M is not the best - Most
glues from hardware shops will melt in the heat encountered in cars.
