And, looking from the picture, the fact that you don't have to
merge with traffic in the circle to make a right-hand turn is
certainly an advantage.  The ones Gig Harbor (the wretched dorf
in question) is putting in are about 50' in diameter, and all
traffic must merge into the circle even if you're only going to
the next street.  One even has two lanes (although, granted, it's
about 70' in diameter) with two entrance lanes on some sides.
And these aren't residential streets, they're freeway on/off
ramps and entrances to major shopping centers.
