Hi Howard - thanks for the pic.  I'm beginning to think you have an
incorrect grille if it is fouling the bumper reinforcing bar both sides at
the same time.  My grill is only about 3/8" too wide to be lifted up between
the wings just in front of the end of the drain channels, there is about 1"
clearance each side between the ends of the grille and the vertical part of
the bars.  My grille is 31 3/8", gap between wings in front of drain
channels 31", gap between sides of reinforcing bar 33".  I've posted some
