More than that, owners of a classic and members of an owners club
statistically take better care in driving and so are a lower risk. Also
these days parts for modern cars are humongous expensive compared to
classics (in the UK at least) and modern cars are designed to crumple up
like a cardboard box and not be repaired for safety reasons making even a
relatively low-speed accident more likely to be a write-off, with much
higher insured value. There has been some info on replacement parts prices
in the Sunday Times recently following a letter from an owner of a newish
Renault saying he had to pay 185 Sterling for a headlamp bulb plus 100
Sterling for fitting. Headlamp unit for a classic Mini is 40 Sterling
whereas the BMW Mini is 400 Sterling, and so on.
