I could well imagine that an electronically produced curve could be a
'proper' curve, and not the two straight lines joined by a knee that is
typical of a mechanical distributor, but either the 123 distributor matches
the original curves or it doesn't! If the curves are a different shape then
it doesn't match the original curve, whether or not it is actually a better
fit for a given engine than the mechanical curve. I'd be very surprised if
the manufacturer got a sample of every engine on a dynamometer and produced
a new set of curves that were a better fit than the originals, if so did
they do it with 4* leaded? Or today's unleaded fuels? If the latter what
grade? What composition? That statement makes me less interested in the
unit than more.
