I had to fit mine to the lever ball then refit the lever also. The bush
went into the gearbox rod OK but replacing the lever pushed it straight
through, fortunately only onto the ground. But I found I had to chamfer the
edge of the plastic bush slightly, once on the ball, before it would push
into the rod.
