Try driving one...... Mind numbingly boring.... Add to that a decent 1.3
turbo diesel will deliver the same overall mileage with better performance.
Also the one question no one seems to be able to answer.... What happens to
the batteries when they are shot?  What is the effect on the environment of
disposing of them?

Heh, try buying one at that price.

One, the dealers like to stock fully loaded touring editions; two, they have
been marking them up above list. There is a somewhat of a demand for
fuel-efficient cars, that may have escaped your notice...

But mainly, you still have to put gas in the Prius -- the "plug-in" Prius is
also a conversion.
