An automatic transmission is a different animal. The fluid is both a
lubricant and a hydraulic fluid (similar to the OD, now that I think of it).
I am astonished that Audi does not recommend replacement "ever." I would
expect something like a 30K to 50K mile interval. I suppose they don't use a
replaceable filter, either.
