I met John in Spring of 1996 at Lime Rock's Spring Sprints. My "new" Morgan had
just quit on the back of the course with rust in the tank, I was being towed in
by the tow truck. He was sitting there in his '53 flat rad, waved gaily, I waved
back with forced gaiety, given the circumstances. He later provided
encouragement and humor when I was discouraged and absolutely humorless, just
the right medicine for my first Tale of Woe.

John gave the keynote address at the 3/4 Morgan club's meet last Fall in
Connecticut after having set up the zaniest snipe hunt on the back roads of
central CT. His humor and the slides he showed at that dinner were an absolute
delight. We were the new people at the 3/4 meet and he (and many others) made us
feel right at home.

A long-haired free spirit who smoked too much and was about as nice a guy as you
are going to know. We'll all miss him.

Chip Brown

Hi Folks-Just found out that John Erickson has passed away. For those of you
who don't know John, he was one of the founding members of the Morgan 3/4
group. His whimisical cartoons were often featured in their newsletter.
Reciently he published some of his work in a book entitled "Morgan, isn't
that a horse?". I know that there are others on this list who knew John
personally, I never had the pleasure. "..marches to the beat of a different
drummer.." sounds like a apt description of John, and most of us for that
matter. I pulled out his book last night and read it again with a glass of
scotch and felt the loss of a talented man.
