We have found that the new regulators are supplied in and unadjusted state!
They all need to be adjusted on the car to function properly. Some
overcharge dramatically, which will cause the generator to burn out. Some
undercharge, which will of course eventually let the battery go dead. The
generator supplied on a +4 is good for a continuous output of 28 amps, even
though it is only rated at 22 amps. 30 amps will cause it to self destruct!
Brief excursions up to the mid 30's is ok if they don't last more than 15
second or so.
                                                                Regards,
Greg Solow
