Ken, first of all, let me say what a great thing it is that you and your son
are working on your truck together. I have two boys (24 and 19) who don't
have much interest at all in my old '47...even though I absolutely love it.
What a great thing to share with your son!

Sounds like you're describing a 3100 (the "stepside") and a 3600 (the
"stakebed"). Based on all the information I've seen in old car/truck price
guides, the Chevy "pickups" are valued the same for each year....regardless
if they are 3100s or 3600s. BTW, all these oletrucks were "stepsides". The
fleetsides came several years later.

My advice would be to go to a good bookstore and buy an old car price guide.
There are several of them available. You'll find some version of a rating
scale usually ranging from 1 to 6, with "1" being a show truck and "6" being
a junker parts truck. Prices are listed for each number (1-6). If the
trucks you're looking at are in good, running condition, I'd guess the value
to be around $2,000 for each of them (give or take $500), IF they're in
pretty good shape. Obviously, the price goes up or down depending on the
condition of the truck.

Absolutely wonderful idea! What more could a guy want! If you've got room
for them, full speed ahead.

I sure think the vast majority of people on this list would consider you a
hero for saving two oletrucks. There are fewer and fewer of these oletrucks
left each year. Rescuing two of them is a fantastic idea. The Advance
Design (AD) trucks ('47-2nd Series through '55-1st Series) are one of the
major loves of my life! Save 'em!! My guess is you'd never regret it.
