I agree with the part of where do you stop. I was just going to do what
needed to be done on '58 GMC 336ci V8. Well to make a long story short, I
have ended up with boring to .040 to correct wear which forced new pistons
and rings, new cam, new lifters, new timing chain and gears, all new
valves, in other words everything will be knew in the engine. I also had
all machined surfaces checked flattened if necessary. Also rebuilt fuel
pump and oil pump. While I was at it I have also had the hydramatic tranny
completely rebuilt. I do not intend to have to tear into this
engine/transmission once it is back in the truck.
