I have the same bird in my water pump.  I have yet to experience any cooling 
problems, but may go bats before changing the thing.

Thank for the quick replies on the water pump question.  No leaks that I can
see, but also no flow of antifreeze with the cap off.  And with my new 160
degree thermostat, it still gets up close to 200.  And there is a "chirping
sound."  Maybe I just need to buy a new one to see.
