Re: TOOLS

I did some research on Chevrolet tools a few years ago, and here's the
scoop, as I understand it..
(This info came from the VCCA tech advisor for tools)

>From 1935 through 1948, a standard tool kit was included with each vehicle.
Included was: 3-open end wrenches, 1- 9" adjustable wrench, 1- ball pein
hammer,
1-screwdriver, 1-spark plug wrench, 1-6" pliers, 1-cloth tool bag.
Beginning in 1949 the kit was offered as an option. Out of over one million
Chevrolets produced in 1949, they sold less than 5,000 kits. Soon
thereafter,
factory supplied tool kits were history.

Jim Carter (and others, I suppose) sells a very nice reproduction cloth tool
bag
and included is an accurate description of each tool (a drawing) so you can
begin
your search at swap meets, garage sales, etc. With a little effort and some
net working
you CAN put together a kit, just like they had 50 years ago!

Several months ago, I posted a photo of a complete set of tools in the list
"photo album"
