Dave--

It looks like you might have the makings of a neat Jimmy truck!
However, I think you may be approaching it from the wrong angle. The
chassis for a 59 looks quite different from the chassis for a 74. The
59 is almost flat, while the 74 has a big dip in the middle, and goes up
at the front.

It would be much easier to put the 74 running gear into the 59 chassis.
You should be able to rebuild the suspension on the 59 without too much
trouble, and swap in the 74 engine, tranny, and rear axle. You didn't
mention whether either of these trucks are 1/2 or 3/4 ton, or if they
are long or short wheelbase, what type engine/tranny you have,
etc...this stuff makes some difference.

Hi all,

My dad and I have the opportunity to pick up a '59 GMC fleetside. It
has
no
engine but the body may be usable. Dad currently has a '74 GMC work
truck
with a sound chassis and mechanicals. Has anyone swapped a TF body onto
a
'74 frame? Is it fairly easy or will it require a lot of custom work?
Thanks in advance.
