Regarding which books to buy.  You are best to pick up both the Chevrolet
Service Manual for your vehicle including the specific year, as it will tell
you what you need to know for that vehicle.  The Factory Assembly Manual is
a pictorial, drawing guide that shows how all of the components go together
including where welds are to be, sealants and sealant quantities to be used.
Spacing for openings, eg. door gaps etc.  This book is almost more valuable
when doing a restoration than the service manual.  The assembly manual also
identifies the part numbers for the specific components which negates the
need for the Master Parts Catalog.
