Well, I finally, after about 6 months, got the front end on my 1950 1 ton
Chevy rebuilt and am ready to road test.  This brake and front-end stuff is
something I've never done before.  My wife says, "oh great, your are just
fooling around with how to steer and stop the truck, and you don't know what
your are doing".  Of course, she's right!  So, before I remount the wheels,
I need help with the drag link adjustment.  I stayed with the old style drag
link with new type balls (bolted) on the steering arm and pitman arm.  I
rebuilt the drag link with new springs, cups, etc.  My question:  the shop
manual says to tighten the end screws until they are "snug" and then back
off 1 turn to align the slot in the end screws with the cotter pin way.
I've tightened alot and still don't know what "snug" means.  I believe that
I'm actually compressing the springs with the amount of tightening I've
done.  Can anyone tell me if I should tighten until the ends screws cannot
be turned any further and then back-off?  Or, should I tighten until I start
to compress the springs, and then back-off.  Your help will be appreciated.
