I would take it back and get a neoprene gasket and use the RTV to attach it to
the valve cover or do like the factory used to do and just use RTV as the
gasket. It has to be really clean for that to work. Use carb cleaner or brake
parts cleaner to remove the unwanted oil on the rail.
