[oletrucks] Engine

I finally found a casting number that made sense, and the engine in my '50
GMC is indeed a 228, so the next question is whether or not to stick with it
or start planning a swap.

I would prefer not to do a V-8 swap, but if this isn't a good target engine
for the mid to long term, I'll accept my fate and put a ZZ4 or similar crate
engine into it.

Are there performance parts available for the 228? Any good "formulas" out
there for performance modifications with a vintage flare? I've seen
multi-carb intakes, header and cams for the Chevy 235...are there similar
parts available for the 228?

Any sites out there dedicated to these engines?

On the simple side, the first thing I need is a set of *real* brackets to
re-mount that 12v Alternator that doesn't quite line up with the drive belt.
Anyone know of a source?

Thanks for getting me started,
