Hmmm....I need to know what you mean when you say "...it checks out ok". Do
you mean the problem goes away?

With the key off, the lights off, all switches off, you say you have battery
wire continuity to ground? That's not ok.

You've disconnected the battery-to-ignition switch wire, and you still have
battery wire continuity to ground?

You've disconnected the battery-to-lightswitch wire, and you still have
battery wire continuity to ground?

With both those wires disconnected, what other places does the battery wire
go? Continue the process, disconnecting one wire or terminal at a time,
until you no longer have a battery wire continuity to ground. Obviously,
when you've disconnected all the wires, you should DEFINITELY not have a
battery wire continuity to ground.....

(Doing this via email is like helping my 78-year-old mother with her
computer problems over the phone...one quick view would usually tell all!)
