Ron, I just mounted my Fulton outside visor on my '47-2 Chevy about 3 weeks
ago. Like you, I had no idea where to mount it. I put the visor together
LOOSELY, then held it up to the truck to see how it would fit. Turns out, I
had the side sections WAY too far in. I just took the whole thing off and
let out the side pieces until I thought it was right, then tried the mount
again. With a little more adjustment, I found the right width to fit the
truck. Key thing for me is that I had two other people helping me with the
mount and the adjustments. (And many thanks to Rob J for sending me some
pics showing me how the visor is mounted on the truck.....and on the door
channels.)

When drilling the holes for the mounts, I broke 2 drill bits. Turns out,
it's very important to NOT drill too far into the first layer of sheet metal
around the door facing. When you get through the first layer, be sure to
stop.......or else you hit the second layer and that's when I broke the
drill bits.

My suggestion is to drill a hole in a "trial" piece of sheet metal, then see
what sheet metal screws will fit the hole you drilled. I didn't do this,
and ended up having to go back to the store to get sheet metal screws that
were smaller than the ones I initially thought I needed. (I learned this
after I broke off two screws trying to make them fit.)

One other note.....I never did get the top center clamp to fit on the center
section of the windshield. I just left it unconnected. No problems so far
in doing this. All in all, the Fulton visor fits great and is very secure
on the truck. Looks great, and I'm pleased with how the whole thing is
mounted. One other thing that might be helpful......assemble the whole
visor OFF the truck before ever trying to assemble it when mounting it.
This will help you when you're trying to get it together while mounting it.

Drop me a note if I can provide more info. Good luck!
