Being new at restoration I've a million questions with few answers and
wonder if any of you "oletruck" guys would be willing to take a few
minutes of your time to help a newcomer with answers to a few of my
questions? Here goes:
1. I'm fairly certain (from the serial number inside the door frame)
that my GMC pu is a 1/2 T, 1947, series 2. It has a fixed windshield,
tank behind the cab and below the bed, and shifter on the steering
column, and the front grill essentially is the same as the 1948 GMC.
Does that confirm the year/series?
2. Did they make a deluxe model that year, and if so, what
distinguished it from the standard model?
3. Are there any special challenges related to this particular
year/model that I should be aware of before getting started?
4. Considering that my intention is to restore the pu to as near
original as possible (while using it as an almost-daily driver), would
it detract from the truck's authenticity (and perhaps value) to add
front disk brakes to the front and equip it with seat belts for reasons
of safety?
5. What recommendations does anyone have for changing the rear end
ratio for Interstate driving, say around 65 mph?
6. Does anybody have a set of 1947 GMC hubcaps for sale? I have three
1947 vintage Chevrolet caps and a Chevrolet tailgate of the same year
that I will sell or trade at ridiculously reasonable price. These are
all in real good condition.
7. I'm in need of a restorable front bumper, GMC tailgate, GMC side
hood ornament, and rear light assemblies for this truck. Anyone have
any anything to offer or suggestions?

Thanks to anyone willing to give me their valued thoughts and/or
suggestions on the above. I'm very grateful.
