I Agree totally!
When getting ready to start a new engine (rebuild or other wise), I have
always built up oil pressure first, this fills the oil galleries,and forces
a layer of oil into all of the clearance areas of the bearings. This
practice greatly reduces initial start failure. This can usually be done
with a drill motor, turning the oil pump. I would really not like to see an
engine of mine (in any condition) turned over with kerosene as a lubricant.
Just MHO, BUT, I did serve an apprenticeship and work as a Machinist for the
US Navy,
in the engine overhaul section at the Naval air station at Alameda, about 35
years ago.
