Ryan,

That is my thought, too (what Billy stated). I
suppose that if you are going to tub or notch the rear
anyway, it doesn't really matter too much whether you
cut a longbed frame or use a short frame. What are
you trying to achieve? Longbed, shortbed, prostreet,
"in the weeds" low, etc?

I picked up a shortbed '55 for a few hundred dollars
-- great chassis. I am picking up a second short
frame this Saturday for about $100. You could find
another frame for a hundred dollars -- especially a
long wheelbase.

If you do decide to go with a different frame, be
advised that the '58/'59 frame is a couple of inches
longer in front. I think that is the significant
difference in frames for TF trucks (comparing by
wheelbase and model -- 3100 to 31 Apache, for
example).
