I am hoping to gain more leg room by installing a Dodge Dakota bench seat. I
have been told it is slightly narrower than the original seat and can be
installed further back.

Anybody have any experience with this?

i looked at lengthening the doors first. a lot of work there. 4 doors, 2
cabs, custom glass, etc... it would definitely look good. then i looked at
extended cab, the best of both worlds, but i didn't like the finished
product (sorry deve)
then i saw the article on the FR100 in classic trucks mag (mar03). i like
the look. saw it on a late 30s chevy earlier. i don't want to shorten the
bed as i want to keep my side mounted spare. so i will lengthen the frame or
possibly shorten the bed behind the rear fenders. dono ;) either way a lot
of work for 6". i'm 6'4"+. any custom seating arrangement will leave me with
less leg room than before.
