in a previous life i was a welder. sounds like lack of penetration or severe 
under-cut. wire welders make anyone look like they know how to weld. if i 
were you, i'd take it to a welding shop. they can run a grinder over the old 
welds and put a cap on the welds. shouldn't take long or cost to much. it 
would be a lot cheaper than having someone inspect the welds, they charge a 
lot because they are specialized and you would still have to pay the welding 
shop. any good welder can look at a weld to see if it is good or not.
