If you were unable to push the antenna all the way in and make it work, may 
be something with your new radio. If you just lightly place the antenna 
plug in the hole and it works, is it in there so lightly that when the 
truck is on the road it'll vibrate out and you'll still have no reception. 
Sounds to me like something is shorting out inside the unit. I'd be call 
the vendor where the radio came from and questioning them.  I'm sure the 
original radio not a cheap item and the more money things cost, the more 
complainant I become if it doesn't work as it should... --wayne
