My 270 is set for race. It came from a 55. I still have the old bell housing
from the 55 but it would take some modifying to get it to work in the 50.
The mounting pad orientation is different.

When I raced my 270 I used a '55 or later 235 chev bell with a BW and Muncie
4 speed.
