hey mike
i did the same swap last year. tracked down a factory link from v8 and
used my stock pedal with edelbrock carb.
did some mods-pics on request.
you have to locate and screw in teh new link bracket on the firewall
inthe exact positio-do it BEFORE you install the motor. =) MUCH
EASIER!! 
if you STEAL it off a v8 truck take a piece of heavy construction paper
with you and position it in relation to known holes/factory holes that
both trucks have.
punch holes for reference then take your ballpoint and punch through in
the link hole spots
then transfer to your cab, drill/screw and youre done.
anyway... its amazing the diffference from a 235 to 350 v8. 
i used original motor mounts too and headers(that hit steering box) but
mine was 1ton 7000# camper that NEEDED more HP. not just a racing
wanting thing.
