A number of oil studies I've seen in recent years show the 10-20k oil
changes are perfectly fine. The onboard computer systems that
dynamically determine oil change intervals are quite good according to
the studies on them as well.

You will not harm things by doing an oil change more frequently, if you
so wish.

The specs on my new car call for synthetic oil. When
I start the car, the computer displays the mileage to the
next maintenance and tells me what maintenance is required.
Right now the number points to an oil change at about 15k miles,
presumably based on the way I have been driving the car.

Is this a realistic maintenance interval, or should I have the
oil changed sooner?
