I agree, Mini's are stupid looking (shoe box on wheels) but they handle
incredibly well and are rather fast for what they are. My son owns one and I
HATE working on it!

Come on now, new cars, regardless of make, have to evolve. Everything
does. You use a push button phone don't you? Rotary dials worked fine for
years but....
What about that screen in front of your face? Evolution! Technology!

Auto makers will try anything to meet the nostalgia buffs out there.
Dodge Viper, Plymouth Prowler, useless cars but way cool!
What about the new Chevy Impala, Everything the old one was but modern.
(Amy jump in any time) Amy Turner has a new Impala. Classic American iron in
a new wrapper.

The new mini and MGF will appeal to the kids of today, they will inturn be
restoring them 20 years down the road and asking other listers for stuff
like air bag sensors and plastic door handles. Our own LBCs were junk in the
eyes of our fathers who rode around in heavy 40s and 50s clunkers. (just try
to push start a Packard!)
Everything is relevant, if new "nitch market" cars did not come about, there
would be nothing for our kids to restore except silver Hondas and tan
Maxipads.

Just my 2 cents.
