I read some years back on the "net" wire wheels, with the knock off
spinner, will actually tighten over time as the car is driven. The
article indicated when you tighten the spinner you should only hit it
two more time when the spinner stops moving.  Over tightening the
spinner will cause the splines to round off faster. Every 6 months I
loosen the spinner and retighten it to make sure it hasn't "tightened"
itself too much.  Also use a good grade of spline grease, or anti seize
compound on the splines to help the interface between the wheel and hub
splines.
