Thanks, Steve.  Yeah, that sounds logical.  Even though I put in a 
new battery last spring and cleaned up the area, maybe the PO didn't 
when he last put in one.  Oh, well.  No need to answer this, but is 
there some reason why there's that valve at all for the heater?  Is 
that pretty common in LBC's?
