Steed drove an old Bentley of the Speed Six variety during the two seasons
with Mrs. Peel. She drove a light-colored Lotus Elan. In the color
episodes of Mrs. Peel's second season, the car was a light blue. For the
one season with Tara King, Steed drove a vintage yellow Rolls. Tara drove
a Lotus Europa and another car I didn't recognize that looked something
like a Jensen-Healey.
There was a revival of the series a few years later, with Steed and another
cast (The New Avengers). I don't know what he drove in that, because I
didn't see much of it. After Mrs. Peel and Tara King, it could only go
downhill anyway.
There were several seasons of The Avengers prior to Mrs. Peel's arrival.
Steed's partner then was Honor Blackman, and the series was quite different
-- more serious. Cars do not play much of a part in these because the
scenes were mostly interiors.
I have all of the episodes on videotape, and I have never seen Steed drive
a Range Rover or a Vauxhall saloon in any of them. Not to say that he
didn't, but those were certainly not his regular mounts. Well, maybe they
were in The New Avengers.
At the end of the Mrs. Peel episodes, Steed and Mrs. Peel usually rode away
on some strange vehicle, for example the Mini Moke, a milk float, an
Amphicar, or a miniature train.
