As usual, there has been some very information shared regarding
my request for help.  Heck, with resources this good, who would
ever need to buy a book?

It appears that the wiring, as far as the alternator is
concerned, was done by someone who knew what they were doing. Of
course, they did not follow the standard LBC wiring color code,
but hey, what the hack - it worked!

All is now well, and the battery actually charges almost a volt
better than before, thanks to all of the connector improvements
made (was barely 13 volts before, now about 13.8 or so).
