Bruce,

If you don't have oil in the brake drums and the hubs spin freely
without any clicking or grabbing, leave the bearings and seals alone.

Otherwise install new wheel bearings, seals, gaskets and o-rings
in the hubs.

Check the diff for backlash and bearing slop and for loss of the 
case hardening in the crown wheel and pinion. If there is a lot
of oil at the front flange, then the pinion seal will probably need
replacing.

Check the metalastik bushes at the front and rear of the main spring
and that the u-bolts aren't loose.

Finally, check the brake shoes for wear and the drums for wear.
New drums are pretty cheap and they make the handbrake work oh
so much better than out of spec old drums.
