I, too, have a question regarding that light and the alternator that goes with
it. I'm going over a recently purchased '73 midget (1275cc). The light stays on
all of the time and the battery terminal voltage is only around 12.5V even at
3000 r/min. I notice that someone has rewired the alternator. The molded plug
is no longer present and there are two wires connected to the rear of the
alternator via push-on connectors. My Haynes manual schematic shows three wires
and my MGB has three wires. I don't see a third wire coming from the harness
(which has been rewrapped). I believe that the third wire would have connected
to the center terminal on the alternator. Am I right? If so, where would its
other end connect, to the ignition switch? I have not been able to locate a
more detailed description or diagram of the Lucas alternator.

  Thanks,
  Butch
